Of course they gave the opening to RDJ. It had to make an impact, and he does.

I am ancient, so I remember him from the 80s, when he was a too-glib pretty boy that meant bad news. Didn’t see him for ages, and then he popped up in Chaplin and absolutely broke my heart.

He’s aged well. Despite all he did to himself. And he has the face for gravitas, now.

I remember when I first got into fandom, looking at all those forty-something women who ran everything and organised the conventions and printed and mailed out the zines, and thinking how old they seemed, and how odd it must be to have spent decades involved in fandom.
